• When does PowerUP take place?

    PowerUP 2018 will be held from Friday, February 23, 2018 to Sunday, February 25, 2018.

  • Where is PowerUP held?

    The location for the PowerUP workshop classes is in the Accolade East building on the Keele campus of York University at 4700 Keele Street, Toronto, Ontario. The Sunday evening finale concert will be held at Bayview Glen Church, 300 Steeles Avenue East, Thornhill, ON.

  • How much does it cost to attend PowerUP?

    The regular adult rate is only $89. This includes all of the Friday and Saturday workshops and rehearsals. There is also a group rate of $79 available for 5+ adults registering at the same time. Early bird adult registration rate beginning in Fall 2017 is $79.00 until January 31, 2018 and the student rate (with ID) is only $69.

  • What is PowerUP’s Objective?

    PowerUP is a unique experience in Canada offering the opportunity to spend a weekend with other passionate musicians, learning and creating together. This conference aims to re-ignite your passion for music by learning new techniques that you have never explored, and discovering sounds and ideas you’ve never encountered!

  • What is the refund policy?

    Early registration is encouraged as many workshops fill up quickly. Workshops without sufficient enrolment may have to be cancelled.  Refunds will not be issued for registration cancellation requests received after February 2, 2018. In the event of emergency/illness, you may send an alternative person in your place or leave your registration as a donation. If sending an alternative person, please email us the name and email address of that person. If a participant withdraws from the conference before February 2, 2018, they will receive a refund of the total workshop fee minus a $10 administrative fee. The PowerUP Workshop reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a workshop due to low enrolment or other unforeseen circumstances. If this becomes necessary, PowerUP will contact registrants by email or by telephone at least 4 business days in advance of the start date. The PowerUP Workshop is not responsible for any costs, including but not limited to travel or accommodation expenses. We strongly urge all participants travelling by plane to buy refundable airline tickets in case of workshop cancellations or other unforeseen changes. All policies will be strictly enforced.   • Where can I eat at York University during the PowerUP weekend?

    York University has a wide selection of eateries on campus, located in York Lanes, a short walk across from where the main workshops are being held.

  • I can only go for one day? Should I still register?

    Because the cost of the entire weekend is so low, one can craft their own weekend so that they can come and go as they please.  With over 25 different workshops, there is so much to choose from and registrants attest that no matter how much they attend, they have a transformative experience! If your time is limited, we recommend beginning your journey on Friday evening at the first mass choir rehearsal and continuing throughout the day on Saturday.

  • I’ve registered online and/or ordered my tickets - where are they?

    All concert tickets/confirmations are sent via email from Eventbrite. All workshop registrations/confirmations are sent via email through Jotform. You can bring a PDF printout of the ticket or have the ticket scanned straight from your smartphone.

  • I want to help spread the word. What’s the best way to tell my friends about PowerUp?

  • I’m interested in volunteering, where can I get more information?

  • How do I get onto campus?

    All forms of transportation including Zoom, YRT, TTC and GO Bus come directly onto campus. There is a subway station being built on York’s campus and construction is in progress and so please allow for extra time if you are driving. The closest parking lot is the Student Services Parking Garage located diagonally across from the multi-colored window ACE building found at the corner of Ian McDonald Blvd and Fine Arts Road.

  • Is there parking at York University?

    Yes, however there is only PAID PARKING on the university campus. On Friday, the cost is $2.50 per 1/2 hr ($20 max) and $8 max after 6 pm. On Saturday, there is a flat rate of $7. There are no in-and-out privileges.

  • How do I access presentation materials?

    Registered participants may download electronic copies of presentation materials from a link that will be available after the conclusion of the conference.

  • Is First-Aid available?

    First Aid attendants/nurses are onsite and ready to handle medical emergencies. If an ambulance is needed for hospital transportation, the patient will be charged a fee by the medical transportation agency. No one under 18 will be treated without parental consent.

  • Do you have a ‘Lost & Found’ box?

    If any items are lost or found during the conference, please bring those items to the registration desk. York University, Toronto Mass Choir Inc. and PowerUP Conference will not be held responsible for loss of personal property at any time prior, during or following the PowerUP 2018 Conference.

  • How can I make a donation to support the conference?

    When you register for PowerUP, you can add a donation when you go through the checkout. Alternatively, donations can be given directly to TORONTO MASS CHOIR INC. on site, via email transfer or through CanadaHelps.org at https://tmc.ca/donate/ . The Toronto Mass Choir is a not-for-profit charitable organization which can issue tax receipts for any donations over $20.00.
